On March 7th and 8th, the Middle School students enjoyed an enriching trip to North Country Community College and various locations in Lake Placid, NY. During their time in Lake Placid, they explored the Olympic Museum and experienced skating on the historic 1932 ice rink. Additionally, they had the opportunity to learn and engage in broomball. One of the highlights was attending the Lake Placid High School production of Matilda the Musical. The following morning, students visited Mt. Van Hoevenberg to witness thrilling skeleton races. Celebrating Acts of Kindness: Recognizing Students Who Spread Joy

First sprouts! Purple Team started seeds this week for the school garden and they have sprouted. Brussel Sprouts for us to eat and Cosmos for the butterflies!

Congratulations to our Varsity Girls & Boys Basketball Teams for being recognized as Scholar Athletes! NYSPHSAA recognized 3,967 Scholar-Athlete teams this Fall. To qualify as a team, 75% of a team’s average GPA for the Fall must be equal to or greater than 90%. Additionally, 51,625 students received individual scholar-athlete recognition by earning an individual average of 90 or above for the fall season, whether their team qualified or not.


On Friday, March 15, 2024, the Middle School students were in for a treat as they embarked on a thrilling adventure through the realms of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Stepping onto the stage like modern-day superheroes were none other than Mr. Sebastian Kowalik, the Technical Specialist & Data and AI Architect at Microsoft, and Mr. Christopher Rizio, the Resident Engineer extraordinaire.
From the depths of data analysis to the heights of artificial intelligence, Mr. Kowalik unveiled the secrets of his role at Microsoft, showcasing the power of technology to shape the world and drive positive change. Meanwhile, Mr. Rizio regaled the students with tales of engineering ingenuity, transporting them to the frontlines of innovation where every problem was an opportunity and every solution a triumph.
After both presentations, the students not only witnessed the magic of STEM but had glimpsed their own potential to become the architects of tomorrow's world.

COVID isolation rules have changed; it is now treated like other respiratory illnesses.

The 4th grade students were experimenting with sound and engineering “telephones” with different materials . As they tinkered and tested, laughter filled the air, mingling with the hum of excitement. With each new creation, they marveled at the power of engineering to bring their wildest dreams to life. Their telephones weren't just devices; they were portals to adventure, connecting worlds with the mere whisper of a word.

On Tuesday, MS and HS students participated in a Math Trivia contest with Newcomb and Long Lake. Due to the road closure, LLCS was unable to make it, but was able to participate virtually. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event a success! The kids did a great job!

The Varsity Softball & Baseball practices in Long Lake have been canceled. ILCS Varsity Softball & Baseball players WILL have practice in Indian Lake from 3:00-3:45 today March 12th.
The district plans for a Snow Day giveback on the date of April 8, 2024, for the Solar Eclipse due to safe travel concerns.

Indian Lake's 4th-grade students enthusiastically participated in the annual Battle of the Books organized by WSWHE BOCES School Library System on March 11. This voluntary reading program fosters a love for reading while providing an opportunity for students to engage in friendly competition. The students delved into 10 challenging fiction and nonfiction books, actively participating in book discussions and scrimmages to prepare for the culminating event. Despite not securing victory, the students showcased their impressive literary knowledge, competing against some of the region's top fourth-grade readers.
