Regional foods found its way to Texas. An overnight smoke on brisket and a demonstration of how to properly cut across the grain before students were able to sample the base of Texas BBQ.
ILCS Students Have Courage! Please share!
The Spirit Week Game has been strong this week at ILCS! Yesterday MS/HS students were encouraged to dress like teachers and teachers were encouraged to dress as students!
Last night, the Quiz Bowl Team came in second in a nail-biting round against Crown Point. Logan, Jackson, and Andrew. You guys did a great job!
Our 7th, 8th, and 11th grade classes went to Saratoga Battlefield, considered the turning point in the American Revolutionary War. The students were given a brief presentation on what life as a soldier was like, and several dressed in outfits/uniforms of the time. Then they took the tour of the battlefield stopping at several designated locations to learn about the battle, the men and women who were involved, and ultimately the American victory.
ILCS Students and Staff had an absolute blast yesterday, and we were having so much fun that we forgot to post pictures! 📸🎉 It was a day filled with fantastic learning, non-stop laughter, epic costumes, and, of course, an avalanche of candy! 🍭🍬
The Middle School Color Teams went all out and hosted an epic trick-or-treating extravaganza for our elementary students in their color team classrooms! 🌈🏫 What a whirlwind of a day, with smiles and sweet treats all around! 😄🍫👻

Fantastic First Grade Update: To practice using adjectives to be descriptive writers, First graders drew monsters during a directed drawing activity. Students were encouraged to get creative with the number and shape of their monsters’ eyes, horns, and teeth.
Next we came up with amazing adjectives to describe their unique monsters.
Our final step was to add color using crayons and watercolors!
They did a spook-tacular job!
The ninth graders read “The Landlady” by Roald Dahl, and we got all creeped out! This was our first attempt at “blackout poetry,” using the words in the story to formulate sentences surrounding the plot and theme of this spooky story. If you haven’t read “The Landlady” yet, it will put you in the spirit! Happy Halloween!
Orange Athletics Update:
Picture this: the cafeteria buzzing with excitement, the smell of fresh homemade (school-made) pizza sauce wafting through the air, and Greyson at the forefront of pizza-popping creativity. He's reinventing the pizza game, one pizza pop at a time!
October‘s big buddy theme was Halloween.
We had chocolate witch hat treats and made floaty ghosts. This month’s character trait was courage and we started with conversations about how we can be courageous in the choices we make.
Update from the Kinders: Here’s a look into the kindergarten day. We’ve been working on letter practice, comparing numbers to 5 using the terms greater than and less than, helping animals at our own Vet Clinic, and mixing puffy paint for Jack-o-Lanterns! It’s been a busy few weeks!

Update from Mr. Gratto: The elementary students have been creating ghost puppets in music class in preparation for Halloween. The ‘Oooo’ of a ghost is a great way for them to explore their voices!
