At ILCS, empathy isn’t just a word on a poster—it’s something you see in action every day. From the classroom to the cafeteria, the bus loop to the library, our teachers and staff consistently show heart, understanding, and compassion. This month, we invited students to recognize those adults who go above and beyond to put themselves in others' shoes—and the stories that came in were moving, funny, and full of appreciation.
Topping the list with the most nominations from middle and high school students was Mrs. Julie Wolfe, our beloved Library Media Specialist. Whether she’s handing out high-fives, checking in on your day, or quietly lifting someone’s spirits, Mrs. Wolfe’s warmth radiates across the library. As one student put it, “She makes my day brighter just by being near her.” Others shared how she celebrates their successes and always seems to know when someone needs a little extra support.

Empathy isn’t always loud—but it echoes. It lives in small acts of kindness, in patient explanations, and in noticing when someone needs a hand (or a hug). To every staff member at ILCS who shows empathy in big ways and small—thank you. You make our school a more human, heart-filled place.
