This photograph shows the Commercial Hotel, rebuilt after its chimney fire, and Oliver Ste. Marie's store just beyond.  There is also a utility pole on the corner.  Indian Lake had begun to use electrictity for power.

The other side of the street  shows Nelson Ste. Marie's store, with the flat roof, and Palmatier's, a large establishment with stores below and guest rooms above.  You can also see the porches of several other guest homes beyond.
